ARLINGTON, VA – Indivisible Arlington today announced its support for Matt de Ferranti, the Democratic nominee for the Arlington County Board.
“Matt de Ferranti has a forward-thinking plan for our community and has proven that he knows how to move us in the right direction in Arlington County. He has a unique, multidisciplinary perspective that will aid him in addressing the issues that matter most to Arlingtonians, having served as a teacher and an advocate on education and housing issues,” said David Robeck, Indivisible Arlington’s spokesperson. “Matt’s values are aligned with our progressive values of inclusion, equality and respect for all. He will help us grow economically so that all Arlingtonians benefit.”
Indivisible Arlington’s support is based, among other issues, on Matt’s stand against the Trump Administration’s immigration policies that separate families, deny Dreamers the dignity and opportunity that the majority of Arlingtonians support, reduce access to health care in underserved communities, and increase inequality.
“Indivisible’s formation emerged from a deeply held desire to push back against the destructive Trump agenda – a passionate call to action that I also felt which fueled my further engagement in Arlington County,” said Matt de Ferranti. “I am prepared and excited to continue that service here in Arlington as a member of the County Board.”
In 2016, Indivisible began with a small group of former Capitol Hill staff members who wanted to mobilize like-minded people, starting with the creation of the Indivisible Guide, in a reaction to the Donald Trump presidency. Since then, the organization has grown nationally. Its mission is “to cultivate and lift up a grassroots movement of local groups to defeat the Trump agenda, elect progressive leaders, and realize bold progressive policies.” Indivisible Arlington is a local chapter with over 1,800 members.
